Position Announcement
The Oklahoma Arts Council is the state government agency responsible for increasing the access Oklahomans have to the arts by providing services and grants in the arts and arts education. The offices of the Oklahoma Arts Council are in Oklahoma City.
Position Description
The position of Community Arts Program Director supports the advancement of the cultural and economic development of Oklahoma through community based arts activities. This position is responsible for identifying resources and providing services that help institutions maintain and strengthen financial stability, organizational capacity, and art programs provided to the public. The Community Arts Program director cultivates agency relationships with institutions that provide access to community arts programming such as festivals, visual arts exhibitions and performing arts productions.
Responsibilities
Job duties include but are not limited to:
Grants Evaluation and Management – Review and evaluate organizations’ Community Arts Program grants, including application submissions and final report submissions.
- Provide assistance in the completion of on-line forms and documents necessary to ensure conformity with agency guidelines and procedures.
- Review applications for accuracy and compliance with agency guidelines.
- Review final reports for accuracy and contract compliance
- Participate in e-grant workshops, panels and presentations to educate the field concerning community arts program grant opportunities through OAC
Administration - Develop and manage administrative functions for the Community Arts Program within the established agency procedures.
- Develop and manage administrative budget for Community Arts Program.
- Produce and maintain Community Arts Program correspondence with organizations as necessary.
- Coordinate with Public Information and Web Publications to provide items of interest to be published at established scheduled deadlines.
- Provide feedback and updates to the Deputy Director concerning Community Arts Program on an as needed basis.
- Make presentations about the Community Arts Program to members of the Council as needed.
Technical Assistance-Support and promote community arts programs through training, workshop, seminars and one-on-one consultations.
- Develop and maintain information and contact database to provide constituents information concerning local/regional/statewide resources
- Identify and facilitate distribution of information appropriate to the field including other funding opportunities
- Identify, promote or facilitate networking opportunities for community arts program personnel in the field
- Respond to requests for assistance quickly, appropriately and professionally
- Identify and respond to needs of field through various assessment methods including but not limited to site visits, survey and evaluations.
Touring Artist Roster -Oversee the Oklahoma Touring Artists Roster in order to provide quality performing arts resources for community arts programming.
- Manage recruitment process for inclusion and maintenance of Touring Roster designation, including application process and panel review process
- Establish clear guidelines for continued inclusion on the roster
- Review existing roster annually for compliance with roster guidelines.
- Distribute information to current roster artists concerning community arts programming venues
- Distribute promotional information concerning the Roster to community arts programmers
- Collaborate with Arts Education office to provide training and professional development opportunities for Touring Roster artists.
Special Events Coordination - Serve as agency’s performing arts coordinator for special collaborations involving agency partners
- Provide consultations and recommendations as needed for agency partners’ performing arts projects
- Serve as Performing Arts coordinator for the Governor’s Septemberfest
- Serve as Performing Arts coordinator for the Governor’s Christmas Tree Lighting events
Networking
Represent the agency in a number of networking groups and make presentations about the agency, as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in arts administration, public administration or related field is preferred. Prior employment experience in arts administration, community arts programming, and presenting and/or the performing arts is essential. Prior experience in working with arts organizations is desired. Job may require limited overnight travel.
Applicant must have skills in group facilitation, listening and writing, and demonstrated ability to conduct meetings. Ability in public speaking is essential as is the ability to organize and deliver a presentation appropriate for the audience. Applicant must be willing to work as a team member, demonstrating a good understanding of and willingness to collaborate. Applicant must have expertise in identification of community resources and needs, and have an understanding of cultural development through community arts programming. Applicant should have proficiency in MSWord, Excel, FileMaker, PowerPoint and Outlook.
This is a full-time 40-hour per week position with state benefits located in Oklahoma City.
Compensation
Salary range: $36,000 - $43,400 with state benefit package
