David Titus is a former teacher/librarian and world traveler, who integrates the arts into classroom activities to involve students so they not only succeed but also teach others. His novel residencies incorporate string figures with storytelling to capture the imagination and draw in even the most reluctant students. Traveling the world to tell and collect stories and figures, he brings these multicultural experiences to the classroom. During his residencies he shares folk talks, songs, sign and other languages, and teaches students how to create string figures of their own.
Arts and Learning Goals:
- Name and describe line, color, form, shape, texture and space
- Use art media and tools in a safe manner
- Demonstrate respect for personal artwork and artwork of others
- Use observation, memory and imagination in making original works of art
- Depict 3-dimensional qualities in making 2-D and 3-D works of art
