Local Government Challenge Grant
Application Preview
For your convenience, the Oklahoma Arts Council has provided a "preview" of the Local Government Challenge Grant Application. Please remember that to actually submit an application or a final report, applicants must login to the e-grant system.

Limitations: Applications are ONLY accepted from any city, county, or town government.
- Local governments may request matching funds of up to $5000 for support of 501(c)(3) arts organizations, defined as those organizations whose primary purpose is the arts.
- Funding will not exceed $5,000 and must be matched at least one-to-one with local tax revenues through the local government’s annual budget.
- Funds awarded from the Oklahoma Arts Council and funds appropriated must be assigned specifically towards support of 501(c)(3) arts organizations within the locality.
- Awards are subject to funds available.
Application Preview
Organization Information – You will have a maximum of 1000 characters to create a narrative that includes the following:
- Describe your community, specifically addressing the items listed below
a. population
b. geographic location
c. demographics
d. economic considerations
- List your DUNS Number
Legal Assurances – There will be three questions in this section. No preparation is required prior to answering the questions.
Application Information – There will be five questions in this section.
- Project Dates
Dropdown boxes will appear for selection of the project start and end dates - Total number of youth that will receive direct benefit from this project as audience members or as participants
- Total number of adults that will receive direct benefit from this project as audience members or as participants
- Total number of artists that will be actively involved in this project
- Name, phone number and/or e-mail address of the local government personnel responsible for oversight of this project (Maximum 400 characters)
Project Budget – You will be required to enter your project expenses. You must use whole numbers only. Do not use commas, decimals or ranges.
Expenses
- Match amount from the local government (LGCG requires a 1:1 cash match)
- Requested amount, not to exceed the amount of the match listed above or the maximum request of $5000
Expenses will automatically tabulate when you hit the “Total Your Budget” button.
You will be taken to the next page of the budget section, in which the government match and requested amount will automatically appear. You will have the option to edit or submit the information on the page.
Associated Organizations – This section requires use of the “Add Organization” button.
- Enter information below for each arts organization that will be a recipient of LGCG funding (must have 501(c) (3) nonprofit IRS designation)
To add an organization, you will select "Add Organization" and fill out the online form, which requires the following information:Organization Name

Description of programs or services LGCG funding will provide (Maximum 400 characters)
Repeat the process to add any additional organizations.
Community Need
- Discuss the partnership between the local government and the arts organization(s) (Maximum 1000 characters)
- Describe the importance of the arts organization’s programming or services to the community (Maximum 1000 characters)
- Explain why it is important for the Oklahoma Arts Council to allocate public funds in support of this project (Maximum 4000 characters)
Required Support Material
- Copy of IRS 501(c) (3) determination letter for each arts organization that will receive funding through the LGCG
- AND Notarized affidavit signed by the local government’s executive officer (usually the Mayor or the city manager)

Support material must be postmarked no later than the published deadline.
NOTE: grant funds will not be issued from the Oklahoma Arts Council until OAC receives verification that the cityís matching funds have been distributed to the arts organizations. Generally, a copy of the check made payable to the arts organization will provide verification. The Oklahoma Arts Council will also require verification that any awarded OAC grant funds have been distributed to the recipient arts organizations.
