Local Government Challenge Grant
The Local Government Challenge Grant offers a unique way for Oklahoma municipalities to contribute to the development of their communities through the arts. City, town, or county governments can receive up to $2000 in matching funds for support of a local nonprofit arts organization. (The July 2012 - June 2013 fiscal year is the final year we will be offering this grant as we look at new ways to serve Oklahoma communities).
Who is eligible?
City, town and county governments in Oklahoma can apply for the Local Government Challenge Grant. The grant has an annual deadline of May 15.
What items can be funded?
Program costs, salaries, and capitol improvements for buildings owned by the designated arts organization.
What cannot be funded?
Units of government, parks and recreation departments, educational institutions, non-arts organizations. Funds cannot be used for improvements to city owned property or for city employee salaries, and cannot be used to match other Oklahoma Arts Council grant requests.
Guidelines

One application per local unit of government per year.

Funding cannot exceed $2000 and must be matched with local tax revenues through the local government?s annual budget.

Grant funds and locally appropriated tax revenues must be assigned specifically towards support of a 501(c)(3) arts organization within the locality.
