Leadership Arts in Ardmore

Members of the 2011 Leadership Arts program were in Ardmore on March 23 and 24 for the second of four monthly sessions. Session two focused on the arts' impact on the economy, and included a panel of local community members who talked about the impact of the arts in Ardmore.

During panel discussions, panelist Aubrey Mills, owner of the Two Frogs Grill, who presents local and national performing artists at his restaurant, explained how hotels, restaurants and other local businesses are filled to capacity when tours stop at his venue. Another panelist Mita Bates, Director of the Ardmore Chamber of Commerce discussed the importance of the arts in attracting and retaining businesses in the area.

Session two included discussion about current state and federal legislative proposals that could impact the arts, and ended with a tour of visual and performing art studios in downtown Ardmore.
