Demetrius Sha’mon Gibson strives for innovation as an educator, vocalist, writer, arranger, and actor. Over three decades, Gibson has served as an educator, program director, professional actor, and arts administrator, and these roles have allowed him to bring a wealth of skill and experience to his artist residencies. From teaching special education and kindergarten in metro-area schools to directing afterschool programs, Gibson has the unique ability to navigate varied classroom settings, and he has built his capacity to work successfully with students representing a wide variety of ages and developmental stages. His work as a professional actor allows him to offer a real-life glimpse at careers in the arts, while his instructional methods allow students to dream and imagine beyond what they can see.
For Gibson’s residencies, students will be immersed in theatre and song, exploring literacy and creativity. Gibson guides students in theatre and movement activities, reflective conversations, and captivating performances. Students will discover their potential while stimulating their imaginations and building their skills. Through song, dance, and storytelling, young minds will learn to reimagine their worlds, gaining confidence and hope
