Bio:
Julie Tattershall has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theatre from the University of Tulsa and a Master of Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma. In 2012, she was awarded Mary Kay Place Legacy Award, given for lifetime achievement and contributions to the Tulsa theatre community, from the Tulsa Awards for Theatre Excellence. In 2014, she was awarded the Hall of Honor award from the Oklahoma Community Theatre Association in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the development of community theatre in Oklahoma. Tattershall has directed more than 80 productions and over 400 improvisational shows. For several years, she ran an improvisational and original monologues performance troupe program for Eastside Senior Center, part of Life Senior Services. Tattershall has managed two local theatre companies in Tulsa: Heller Theatre and Clark Youth Theatre. Retired from those organizations, she continues working as a teaching artist, with a specific interest in creative aging programs for older adults.
Tattershall's program, “Performance Storytelling and Improvisation for 50+,” takes participants through developing original stories and creating improvisational scenarios as they put together a performance. These performances can be themed programs—such as Halloween, Valentine’s Day, friendship, mishaps, connection, etc. In the creation of their performance, participants meet regularly for one to three months, averaging one to three times per week.
