Bio:
Milton Hopkins offers instruction in vocal and instrumental music. In addition to leading classes in churches, schools, and juvenile justice facilities, Hopkins has formed youth choirs and produced and presented youth plays in community settings.
Hopkins' adaptive and collaborative style of crafting residencies makes him a successful partner to host sites. His residencies invite students to explore music as a discipline and creative outlet. Through interactive lessons, students engage in musical concepts, listening and performance skills, and composition processes. His program integrates artistic techniques such as rhythm, melody, harmony, dynamics, and improvisation, tailored to the students’ ages and skill levels. Students gain hands-on experience with music-making—whether through instruments, voice, or body percussion—and work collaboratively toward a culminating performance or sharing session.
