Oklahoma Art in Public Places

The Oklahoma Art in Public Places Act requires that 1.5 percent of eligible state capital improvement budgets be invested in public art. The program advances state economic development goals and enhances public spaces for the benefit of residents. The Oklahoma Arts Council manages the program, bringing together state government agencies, artists, and local residents in the commissioning or acquisition of artwork that represents the history and values of the people of Oklahoma.

Oklahoma Public Art Network

The Oklahoma Public Art Network (OPAN) is an informal network open to any Oklahoman interested in advancing their understanding of the public art process. Ideal for emerging and experienced artists, arts administrators, architects, design professionals, civic leaders, municipal administrators, and more, the network can benefit anyone involved in the process of commissioning, conceptualizing, and creating public art. Through OPAN, the Oklahoma Arts Council facilitates the sharing of best practices and promotes standards of excellence. The network equips Oklahomans with resources to empower them to achieve their visions for public art projects. Goals of OPAN include developing artistic and administrative capacity in the public art field statewide and connecting artists with opportunities.

How do I join OPAN?

Join OPAN on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/OklahomaPublicArtNetwork. OPAN is a free resource. There is no cost or obligation in joining the network.
