Bio:
Theresa Sacket is a muralist located in Ponca City. She works in a variety of media and has experience in drawing, painting, ceramics, and sculptures. She regularly works on large public art projects throughout the year. Sacket teaches students of all ages. In recent years, she has begun hosting art classes for veterans and students with disabilities. Depending on the student base, Sacket’s classes can be more detailed in concept or explore techniques that are more therapeutic and neurodivergent in nature. She often adds elements of art history into her lesson plans.
Sacket attended Northern Oklahoma College on an art scholarship and obtained her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at Oklahoma State University. Prior to her retirement in 2023, Sacket spent 15 years as an elementary classroom teacher, both in Oklahoma and abroad. She has also served as the children’s art camp director for City Arts in Ponca City and as a teacher for Northern Oklahoma College Arts Adventure.
Sacket retired from full-time teaching in 2023 and opened a gallery in Ponca City, which displays the art of over 20 local artists.
