Panchromatic: Spectrum of Possibilities

Scott Booker
Since 1990, Scott Booker has managed Oklahoma City’s three-time Grammy Award-winning world famous band, The Flaming Lips. An Oklahoma City native and graduate of Central State University (now University of Central Oklahoma), Booker has also guided the careers of dozens of award-winning artists while endeavoring to equip them for success in the music industry. In 2003, Booker established World’s Fair Label Group as a way of enabling artists to self-release their own music. In 2009, Booker turned his attention to establishing the Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma (ACM@UCO), a university-based program that teaches students about the music business, music production, and performance. Since its establishment, ACM@UCO has attracted thousands of students and featured master classes led by notable guest artists such as Roger Daltrey, Nile Rodgers, Jackson Browne, and others

Join Scott Booker—Executive Director of ACM@UCO and manager of The Flaming Lips—for a dynamic conversation with award-winning Oklahoma native singer-songwriter JD McPherson. The duo will discuss the ins and outs of the music industry from the artist and management perspectives. Whether you’re an individual singer-songwriter, band member, venue owner, music business representative, or someone interested in building the music scene in your area, you will benefit from the exclusive insight being offered in this panel.

Featuring Scott Booker, Executive Director of ACM@ UCO and Manager of the Flaming Lips, and JD McPherson, internationally acclaimed retro-rock star and native Oklahoman, this conversation will provide perspective from both the artistic and management sides of the music industry. The two will share insight on how Oklahoma musicians and arts leaders can connect with the state’s evolving music industry. This program will take place at the ACM@UCO Songwriting Room (First Floor), 25 S. Oklahoma Ave. A light breakfast will be provided. Street and lot parking are available. RSVP at the conference registration table in the 21c Museum Hotel by Thursday, October 25.
