Shailah Red Elk-Ramos Shailah Red Elk-Ramos is a native of southwest Oklahoma and a proud Comanche Nation tribal citizen who works as a mental health family specialist providing psychotherapy at Lawton Indian Hospital–Behavioral Health Clinic. A self-taught artist, Ramos has evolved her craft over the course of 10 years, creating a reputation of originality and utilizing art as a tool for healing. Through her company, The Native Hippy, she enjoys creating art and giving it away in all capacities. Ramos’ love for the arts and her passion for telling a story and sharing a vision are evident in her work.

During this session, Comanche Nation cultural representatives will share how Lawton-based cultural programs have contributed to improved well-being and quality of life for youth and adults who participate in learning traditional Comanche dances and art instruction.
